Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Wright County Criminal History does not keep a separate log or database of the terms entered into those search boxes.
Messages and Contact Submissions
A message sent directly to us may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared outside the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Standard technical information can be recorded when a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view dates and timestamps
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- Pages opened and approximate time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files that help measure how visitors move through the site, including which Wright County record pages receive traffic and where a visit ends. Analytics providers may combine those measurements into traffic reports. A browser can reject or remove cookies, although blocking them may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
- Routing a query to the selected search provider
- Operating, securing, and improving page performance
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Wright County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Wright County Sheriff's Office, Iowa District Court, the Iowa Department of Public Safety and Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a dossier about another person, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information entered there is governed by the chosen provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention, disclosure, and processing practices. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Wright County government, Iowa Courts Online, Iowa DCI, other public agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy terms control. Those terms should be reviewed before personal information is submitted.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted advertisements. Wright County Criminal History does not operate those external tracking systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by this site. Information may still be processed by:
- Advertising networks that place or measure ads
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners selected to process a query
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect information handled by the site. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, however, so an absolute guarantee against unauthorized access cannot be made.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If information from a minor is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with the law that applies to a visitor. Iowa Code chapter 22 governs access to records held by Iowa government bodies, while Iowa Code chapter 692 controls dissemination of Iowa criminal-history information. Those laws do not make this private site a government record custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request deletion where the law provides that right
- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Seek a copy of personal data held about the visitor
- Opt out of processing where an applicable law permits it
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. The current version will appear here with its effective date.
